  1. Klinnsman was in Tijuana last night, do you supposed he was watching Arriola or did he just not get word that Orozco and Castillo weren’t dressing. Amando Moreno made his first appearance for Tijuana last night as well.

  2. How does a professional referee give the red card to the wrong guy? Honestly, even MLSsoccer.com titled the video “Parkhurst incorrectly sent off”. You have the head referee and two ARs and you don’t get that right. How about a match ban for stupidity from the ref?

  3. Big accomplishment for Yedlin fighting to win the right back spot, and consistently going 90 now in the middle of a ruthless relegation battle in the Premier League. I could not imagine a better learning experience for a young defender than this. I am so proud of this young man and his character. Part of what impresses me is how fast he’s adjusted to a completely different – austere and workmanlike- British culture to succeed there. He adapted culturally. The fancy hair is gone, he’s not the gregarious and flashy highlight reel he once was, because that’s not what his team needs to stay up. He did not let his spirit get broken when he was loaned out and was sitting on a bench at Sunderland – who are so often blasted and made fun of on boards like these. He perservered and rose up when Big Sam challenged him to be a man and play like a veteran if he wanted the right back spot in a relegation battle.

Remember he’s still just 22 years old. He wasn’t a part of youth national team set ups. He came up from a working class background outside of Seattle, and broke through when he got a chance with the Sounders academy teams. AWRTB. This is a great story.

    • Red Star lost and Lens won, so if this result holds, it’s 3-way tie for 3rd on points, with Lens ahead on goal differential I think.

      • Metz is actually in 3rd spot now, one point ahead of HAC, Red Star and Lens. Yes Lens will be officially in 4th place on goal diff.

      • Now it is an uphill battle for them to gain promotion. This was a huge game, and for the second half weren’t nearly at the level of Nancy, who came out flying. On the plus side, their remaining 4 matches are against teams no better than 8th in the table.

      • Concorde, you are definitely right on both fronts: (1) it was a big game and (2) it will be an uphill battle. That being said, I think Le Havre have reason for a lot of hope.

        1) Metz is in 3rd by one point (56 to 55 for Havre). However, they have a brutal schedule and WILL drop points. 3 of their last 4 games are against the number 2 (Dijon), 4 (Lens) & 6 (Red Star).

        2) Of the 3 teams tied at 55points, but sitting at 4,5,6 on goal difference, Le Havre is only 1 goal behind Lens and 3 ahead of Red Star. They also have the weakest homestretch. Only Lens’ schedule comes close, but they have to play Metz last.

It is definitely out of their hands, but they are 1 point behind in both points and goal difference.

  4. halftime assessment of yedlin, in case i tap out before fulltime:

seems to be overmatched in general. he’s been beaten in the air almost every time, gets caught out of position too many times, hasn’t been able to get forward at all, but his one-on-one defending and passing are pretty solid. norwich seems to be targeting him and van aanholt.

    • lol welcome back my friend, welcome back. Not much has changed.

Realistically, big Sam has kept the best of the prior talent and brought in the rest of the team so they have quite a different looking team and generally they show flashes of good build up…. Flashes…..

      • well, not yet today at least. i think allardyce was a good choice to try to keep them up, just think they’re only postponing the inevitable from year to year.
