2015/2016 European League Rewind

It truly has been a remarkable year in European football.

Whether it was Leicester City winning the English Premier League just two years removed from winning the Championship title,  Juventus winning a fifth straight Serie A title or Barcelona winning its final five games to clinch the title away from rival Real Madrid, there surely weren’t a shortage of storylines.

While the European club season won’t come to an official end until Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid face off in the UEFA Champions League final on May 28, we have seen most of the top leagues complete their campaigns .Here is a look at how the European leagues finished in the 2015/2016 season:

English Premier League

Champion — Leicester City

Europe Qualifiers — Leicester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City

Relegated teams — Newcastle, Norwich City, Aston Villa

Promoted teams — Middlesbrough, Burnley

Brighton, Derby County, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday are all fighting for the last spot right now (Sheffield leads Brighton 2-0 entering Monday’s second leg. Hull leads Derby 3-0 entering Tuesday’s second leg)

Spanish Primera Divison

Champion — FC Barcelona

Europe Qualifiers — FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal

Italian Serie A
