Both Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klinsmann face challenges in the U.S. as the summer months near, but that won’t stop either from participating in media work for a tournament across the Atlantic.

BBC announced on Monday that both Lampard and Klinsmann will be a part of the organization’s team to cover the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament. The two join a star-studded coverage team that also features former New York Red Bulls captain Thierry Henry, as well as England legends Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand.

According to Goal USA, Lampard will handle his Euro duties remotely rather than traveling to France.

According to U.S. Men’s National Team press officer Michael Kammarman, Klinsmann’s involvement has yet to be finalized, and any involvement will take place after the USMNT’s involvement in the Copa America Centenario.

Euro 2016 will be played between June 10 – July 10.

What do you think of the news? Any concerns with Lampard and Klinsmann’s decision to work with BBC?

  1. Pretty sure he is doing this from NYC. I’m going to take his side. It is not a distraction, considering that all soccer players and fans will be watching these games anyway, and that practice sessions in MLS last for about an hour after which the rest of the team will go play golf or video games.

  2. Love it. Jurgen is made for TV. Im hoping he throws in a “ask the French players” why they werent prepared! Jurgen and That crazy French coach who used astologers would be a dream team. any chance we can get Lalas and Jurgen and The Special One in the same broadcast booth?

  3. If NYCFC could unload Lampard and Mix and pick a CB and maybe another striker they’d be a real threat in the east.

  4. I guess JK is assuming we’ll be making an early exit from Copa America. With him at the helm, that’s probably a safe bet.

    • Euro 2016 starts a week later and continues two weeks past Copa. The knockout stages of Euro doesn’t start until the same day as the Copa 3rd place match one day before the final. After the US wins the final JK will still have 7 days worth of coverage to perform.

  5. Klinsy increasing his profile in England? Is the Ian Darke tweet true?

I’m confused can’t Lampard help NYCFC just as much on location in France?
