The Montreal Impact were fully aware of who they had to stop in the Orlando City attack, but they still couldn’t stop Cyle Larin.

The Canadian striker scored a pair of goals, both assisted by Brazilian star Kaka, to help lead Orlando City to a crucial 2-1 victory on Saturday.

Lauren’s 87th-minute delivered the victory, and came courtesy of an excellent combination between Julio Baptista and Kaka.

The result sees the Lions jump to sixth place in the Eastern Conference, while the Impact remain in fourth in the East.

Ignacio Piatti opened the scoring, netting the game’s opener after just four minutes. The Argentine attacker now has seven goals on the year, putting him in a tie for fourth in MLS.

The first half turned out to be tame in terms of chances on goal, but Larin came up in a big way just moments before halftime.

The 21-year-old striker tied the game at 1-1 in the 43rd minute, after heading an in-swinging set piece from Kaka.

Saturday’s match proved to be a highly-contentious affair, which saw referee Mark Geiger issue six yellow cards, five of which were given to Orlando players.

Orlando City will be back in action on Wednesday night as the Lions host the East-leading Philadelphia Union, while the Impact will head back north next Saturday to take on the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Orlando City was in desperate need of a win after going winless in their last six matches, and Cyle Larin delivered on Saturday. The Canadian youngster netted two goals on the night, putting the Lions back in an Eastern Conference playoff position.

Including being the man tabbed to mark Larin on his first goal, Ambroise Oyongo had a difficult night at left back. The 24-year-old was beaten on several occasions down the flank.
