MLS Weekend Rewind: Week 12

The New York Red Bulls went into Yankee Stadium and thrashed Hudson River rivals New York City FC on Saturday, while the Portland Timbers and Orlando City SC each earned important victories in front of their home fans. Here’s a closer look at all of this past weekend’s MLS action:

 

The Philadelphia Union scored a late winner on Friday night to secure a 1-0 win over D.C. United. (REPORT)

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Dax McCarty paced the New York Red Bulls with two goals apiece against New York City FC, while the team went on to win 7-0. (REPORT)

The Chicago Fire captured their second win of the season on Saturday, defeating the Houston Dynamo 1-0 at Toyota Park. (REPORT)

Toronto FC and the Columbus Crew played to a 0-0 tie at BMO Field, leaving TFC winless in their last three matches. (REPORT)

The Colorado Rapids maintain their status as Western Conference leaders following a 1-0 victory against the Seattle Sounders. (REPORT)

The Portland Timbers captured their first win in three weeks on Sunday, outlasting the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-2 at Providence Park. (REPORT)

Fatai Alashe’s finish in the dying minutes secured a point for the San Jose Earthquakes, as they tied the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-1. (REPORT)

  1. Philadelphia Union and Colorado Rapids,…wow! Couldn’t be happier that Red Bulls embarassed NYCFC at Wankee Stadium. Thoroughly enjoyed LA v San Jose match last night. Disappointed Seb Lleget is coming off the bench for the Galaxy. Gerard and De Jong? Rather watch a young American.
