Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

The English Premier League Title has already been decided, but the fight to stay alive is still ongoing.

Sunderland hosts Chelsea at the Stadium of the Light in an important match on Saturday. The Black Cats are currently in one of three relegation spots, sitting one point behind rival Newcastle United.

Elsewhere in England, Leicester City will be celebrating its EPL title with a game against Everton.

Bayern Munich can clinch the German Bundesliga title against FC Ingolstadt, while Borussia Mönchengladbach-Bayer Leverkusen should provide plenty of intrigue as both teams desire one of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

Comments

  1. Kei and Higuain fighting over a meaningless PK leads to a Crew collapse. Almost have to bench them after that.

  2. Yedlin had his worst game of recent weeks but oddly it still wasn’t a bad game–possibly picking up an assist, but it did deflect so not sure if they will give him official credit.

Defensively he made some good tackles and pressures but he also was involved in both the Chelsea goals; albeit, the (potential) assist helps balance that.

Offensively, other than the late cross, he looked kind of his usual unsure self. He can’t run AND dribble with the ball close to him yet. I hope he focuses on fast paced dribbling and putting in crosses this summer. The defensive positioning, aerials, etc will come with experience but the other areas need some focused work. Excited about this young player doing well

  3. Tough call for Pulisic to create a goal against that packed defense, but he had a few dangerous balls and was his usual self with his touch and speed of play.

Chandler looked like himself. Hard running, strange decisions. Glad he is healthy.

      • lol it was an honest reaction to the live game (hence running commentary………….)

Sunderland fought back to equalize in the first half only to give up a goal right before half that undid their work (note: Yedlin was a catalyst for the goal). The second half was much better for them as my commentary reflects.

Honest question: do you watch the Sunderland games?

The arbitrary takeaway here should be to relax and try to not take a comment of laughter so personally. There is nothing offensive about my comment. Please save your SJW for actual social justice……

        Have a great day

What a time to be alive…….

      • I watch the games. I just happen to find you irritating. Are you convinced that making the same stupid LOL comment every week is somehow endearing ? You make sure to find a way to sneak it in even when the black cats have good results. It’s corny and lame…..which is basically what you are.

    • It is undoubtedly stupid, corny and annoying. The guy said it best when he asked if you actually think making that stupid comment endears you to this board. It is the opposite. In this day and age, anyone who continuously either “lol”s or precedes his posts with “sorry” (which I don’t think you do, but you do seem like the type), loses all credibility instantaneously

    • Well, one positive is that there is no longer any doubt who currently wears the mantle of “most irritating SBI poster.” That title has a long, distinguished history (remember Adrian? or the incredible Expat?). You and Bryan were neck and neck, but you broke the tie by starting the ball rolling on yet another pointless, unendurable running commentary.

      • Lol expat used to annoy by posting rude, offensive, illogical posts. And you think I fall in that category for laughing at something comical and posting that on a running commentary board? Now that deserves an L……O……L…….

Now for the fun fact of the day! Yay!:

Several (10+) times over the past two seasons I had not yet posted a ‘sunlol’ and posters here have mentioned they were sad to not see one.

So who to listen to? The ones not offended by a simple laughter comment or those somehow deeply offended by a human being laughing?

Hint: the more you show your annoyance the more it feeds me to push your easily pressed buttons. Perhaps THAT is my sole fault, one I can easily live with considering it’s harmless… As soon as I post rude, offensive or hurtful comments you have the right to be annoyed. Until then you just look silly getting mad at someone who is laughing…..

“We talking about ….. an ‘lol’ …… Not a game, not a game…”

Please continue to enjoy this internet soccer blog everyone!!!

    • Nobody is offended. We just think you’re annoying. Those are different things. Also think you are responsible for the decline of comments on this page.

Why do you care so much about an irrelevant EPL team? But hey, they tied so the joke is on you.
