Barcelona gave their fans a bit of a scare after dropping key points over the last two months of the season, but Luis Suarez’s brilliance helped guide the Blaugrana to their 24th La Liga title on Saturday.
Suarez, who finished the 2015-16 season with an astounding 40 goals in 35 matches, found his way onto the scoresheet twice in the first-half (22′ & 38′) before assuring Barcelona’s three points against. Granada.
Coming into the weekend, Barcelona sat one point above rival Real Madrid, who also won on Saturday vs. Deportivo La Coruna. Cristiano Ronaldo tallied twice for the road side before being substituted out at halftime.
Despite their 2-0 victory, Real remained one point behind the Blaugrana in Spain’s top flight. The Madridistas will now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League final in two week’s time, where they will meet fellow Madrid side Atletico.
Congrats to Barcelona. They could’ve flamed out badly, but kudos to them for righting their ship.
