  1. Ha! Nah……to me it signifies that La Liga is the best league in the world. The Premier League might be the most exciting and have the fanfare but look at La Liga’s results in Europe. They speak for themselves. Best league in the world.

    • Or conversly, it could signal that they simply put all their eggs in the Europa League basket and that Barca/Madrid (both) are able concentrate on the Champions league because La Liga is top heavy. EPL is the deepest league from what I can see, even if the top teams aren’t what they used to be

    • Also, FYI, this trend is only going to continue as the EPL brings in more TV money and more American’s buy teams and start spending more money on players. Nobody GAF about anyone in Spain other than Barca/Real and La Liga among other are starting to recognize it’s brown trousers time

      • You should read Sid Lowe’s piece on Sevilla’s sporting director to see the difference between having money and being able to use it effectively. How much money did Man City and Man U spend the last couple of years and all its gotten them was a 4th and 5th place finish.

  2. Is Sevilla like the state champion in #4 singles tennis, they can’t even finish in the top 4 in their league, but they are three time champions in Europe. Their last four league finishes are 7, 5, 5, and 9th.
