  1. I am skeptical about conspiracy theories, but someone needs to explain who was talking to the Peru-Brazil referee in his earpiece for five minutes after the Peru goal. His AR is standing right there, and the fourth official should be right on the sideline. There’s no video review, so who could possibly have a right to It “call” him at that time? It was also interesting to me that many players were covering their mouths when speaking to the referee, like baseball pitchers and catchers do when they are having strategy conversations on the mound.

    • They are probably covering their mouths because they are saying the worst insults they can think of to the ref and don’t want the cameras to see. In La Liga, the media has profesional lip readers watching the players even at training sessions. Check out the clips of the Canal Plus (like HBO in Europe) soccer show “Lo Que El Ojo No Ve” on youtube to see them reading the lips of players and refs.

  2. And one more thing, if Brazil did not deserve to go through to the quarterfinals, no matter how poorly they have played, Peru deserves it even less.

  3. This sport has hit a new low. The refs call pks for unintentional handballs or armballs in the box, but will allow a volleyball goal to decide who advances to the next round in a so called important tournament. PK against the US wrong, pk against Bolivia wrong, Peru hand goal atrocious. On the other hand these refs are not even consistent as I’ve seen hand balls in the same exact circumstances as the ones called against USA and Bolivia not being called. These refs are being manipulated via the earpiece by the heads of the federations, they get their marching orders. It is all a scam. I am personally done with this sport, it has become a waste of time.

  4. Brazil will not care about bombing out of the fake Copa America. They made it clear before the tournament started that their focus was the Olympic team. They clearly were not feeling much passion for this tournament which showed in their play and approach to each game.

  5. Brazil brought a weak side it was like a B- team… It was a terrible decision on the goal but Brazil did nothing to covern themselves in glory for the tournament…

    • I agree Brazil is painful to watch these days, but that does not mean Peru deserves to be in the quarterfinals.
