Kyle Scott’s contract with Chelsea runs until 2019, but the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team midfielder is set for a training stint with a new club.

Dutch club Willem II revealed that Scott has joined the team for a training stint that includes a trio of friendlies. Scott featured in the first half of the club’s match against RKDSV Diessen on Monday.

“We are looking for attacking reinforcements,”said Willem II manager Erwin van de Looi. “That’s why we give this guy a chance to prove himself in the coming days. “

Scott played a key role in helping Chelsea claim the UEFA Youth League for the last two seasons, while also helping the club win the FA Youth Cup last year. Internationally, Scott has represented United States, England, and the Republic of Ireland at the youth level.

Willem II finished the 2015-2016 Eredivisie season in 16th place, while needing to win two aggregate series to avoid relegation.

What do you think of the Scott news? Would Willem be a good club for him?

  1. don’t know a thing about him but most likely he’ll never play for Chelsea’s first team. Keep on playing though and getting minutes where you get them and hopefully it’ll pay off with a team that really needs you. And pick America!

  2. As long as he receives FIRST TEAM minutes than playing in the dutch league could be a good move for him. He’s an attacking midfielder and the dutch do a good job of teaching attacking football.
