After all of the build-up, the U.S. Men’s National Team’s road through the Copa America finally begins with Colombia on Friday night.
In the first match of this summer’s tournament, the USMNT hosts Colombia at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. To start the 100th anniversary of the tournament, Jurgen Klinsmann has selected a lineup causing little to no surprise, as Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey and Bobby Wood headline the USMNT XI.
Standing in their path will be a Colombia team currently ranked third in the world. Boasting an attacking unit led by James Rodriguez and Carlos Bacca, Colombia gives the USMNT its biggest test of the group stage in the first match of the tournament.

As long as US player’s access to development depends on family income/stay-at-home moms rather than flashed innate ability, we will continue to be an also-ran in soccer.
So many people are acting upset and disappointed. This is the line-up you should’ve expected, the subs you should’ve expected, the result you should’ve expected. . .And still.
I don’t get all of you so downtrodden. This was a fine result for how we played, and who we played.
We don’t have world class players you guys. Fabian is probably our closest at the moment and we have to play him back. I guess I shouldn’t try to calm the fire, go ahead and let your rage burn and have another beer.
Exactly
Yeah, I guess we should all just be happy that they let our team play in these big tournaments, sit back and learn from the grown-ups who really know how to play, take our lumps and say “thank you.” And pretend it’s 1990.
Bradley played very poorly. Dempsey lazy and old looking (most set pieces sucked with exception of one when the goalie made a great save). Zardes good hold up play but then what? Nothing, absolutely no threat. Not international caliber clearly. Wood did not show up tonight. Yedlin looked Championship league not Premiere league tonight. All in all, goes to show just how far behind U.S. is in terms of talent and quality.
I think Bradley was the only player to show up tonight… Unfortunately for the wrong team.
True… for the other team
Your clarification lessens his joke… lol
I am still trying to discern what Zardes adds to this attack. Besides running onto a ball in space, that is. His feet are where possession goes to die.
OMG…Lalas “I’m trying to figure out an American that had a good game.” Rob Stone “Dempsey?” Seriously?
Classic Colombia game, lucky goal, lucky penalty.
Well as long as we built this team around Dempsey…we’re getting knocked out of group play. Too old to be our main guy
I have to give Colombia credit — an extremely well-organized defense.
To be honest. We never really threaten their back 4.
Joke of the day.
Oh the homerism, we were never in this game. Like not ever. Columbia never got out of second gear. Sure their goals were opportunistic, but we don’t look even remotely threatening in the final third.
Colombia. Its not ur fault Gus for w/e the reason Americans call Colombia-Columbia
Dangit. Sorry.
lol its not just. Everybody does it.
Yes.People with no brain.
You do not know what you are talking about. Second gear, really? How idiotic can you be? And another thing, go back to school and learn to spell.
Good news I just went to school and can now spell. How’s this for spelling: eat glass, nobody likes you.
Yeah. The glass has gone to your brain. Go back to Primary School.
Good news. Just graduated from primary school. Go eat glass. Nobody likes you. El pibe Es stupido. Hope you read and watched every pundit that backs what I said and nada of what you said. Give me a shout when you graduate your mom’s breach. Gus out.
One of Bradley’s worst games.
Dempsey misses again. Notice how he never passes the ball
