MLS action is currently on hiatus with international matches in full swing, but the league’s Disciplinary Committee handed down a series of suspensions and fines on Tuesday, while also rescinding an existing red card.
Vancouver Whitecaps duo Kendall Waston and Octavio Rivero have each been suspended one match and received an undisclosed fine for violent conduct during the team’s matches against the Portland Timbers and Houston Dynamo, respectively.
Waston is currently serving a red card suspension with his native Costa Rica, who is in the midst of their Group A run at the Copa America Centenario. The defender will miss Tuesday night’s match against the U.S. Men’s National Team.
Meanwhile, Columbus Crew forward Conor Casey and the MLS Players Union have successful appealed the player’s one-match suspension. Casey’s red card stemmed from the Union’s 3-2 win over Columbus Crew SC on June 1.
The Disciplinary Committee has also handed down a fine to Dax McCarty of the New York Red Bulls for violation of league policy involved contact to the face, head or neck during the team’s 3-0 win against Toronto FC on May 28.
