When Sebastian Giovinco is at his best, Toronto FC is a hard team to stop. That proved to be the case again on Sunday night.

The Italian striker either scored or assisted on all three goals as TFC secured a 3-0 win against the Columbus Crew, giving the home side 30 points for the season.

Giovinco didn’t waste any time in the first half, when the former Juventus forward struck a powerful effort from distance off the back of teammate Tsubasa Endoh and landed in the back of the net after eight minutes.

Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark had no chance to make the save, and Endoh was credited with his second MLS goal due to the deflection.

Toronto doubled its advantage in the 24th minute as Giovinco was in the center of the action yet again. Giovinco played a one-two combination with Endoh at the top of the Crew penalty area before striking a first-time effort with the outside of his foot into the corner.

The Crew were left exposed defensively in the second half as well, as Giovinco nearly put a third goal in the 59th minute after hitting the post twice in the same sequence.

U.S. forward Jozy Altidore made a second half appearance for TFC after replacing Jordan Hamilton just prior to the hour mark. Altidore, who featured in his second match since returning from injury, gave Toronto a 3-0 lead in the dying minutes after Giovinco found the 26-year-old.

Altidore worked a clever combination with Giovinco outside the box, before receiving it from Giovinco and smashing a deflected effort past Clark.

TFC will return to action on Wednesday against Real Salt Lake, while the Crew won’t play again until August 13 against Eastern Conference leaders New York City FC.
