Orlando City’s head coaching search has reportedly seen the club turn towards one of the most recognizable faces on the MLS coaching scene.

FourFourTwo reported on Sunday that Orlando City is in advanced discussions with Jason Kreis to become the team’s next head coach. The move comes several weeks after the club fired longtime head coach Adrian Heath, who had been with the team since long before the club’s jump to MLS.

Kreis most recently took charge of fellow 2015 expansion side, New York City FC, but was dismissed from his job after just one season. Overall, Kreis went 10-17-7 in his lone season in charge of the club.

Prior to his time with NYCFC, Kreis led Real Salt Lake to a pair of MLS Cup appearances, while winning the league’s ultimate prize in 2009. Kreis led RSL to the postseason in each of his six full seasons as head coach.

Orlando City has amassed a 0-1-2 record under interim coach Bobby Murphy, most recently drawing, 2-2, with the Vancouver Whitecaps over the weekend. The Lions return to action on Saturday for a visit to the Columbus Crew.

What do you think of the report? How would Kreis fare with Orlando City? What other coaches should Orlando City take a look at?
