Americans Abroad: Sunday Rewind

Paul Arriola Tijuana (CONCACAF)

Sunday wasn’t the busiest day, but it was a fairly productive one for several members of the group of Americans Abroad.

Liga MX action headlined the day, as William Yarbrough played all 90 minutes yet again in Leon’s 1-1 tie with Toluca. Michael Orozco and Jorge Villafana joined the goalkeeper in the 90 minute club, while Paul Arriola entered off the bench in Tijuana’s 2-1 victory over Santos Laguna.

In the Netherlands, Matt Miazga earned a substitute appearance of his own, entering in the second half of Vitesse’s 2-1 loss to Twente.

  2. Klinsmann is an idiot. Villafana should have been called up and integrated ages ago. If we had him, we could put F Johnson on the left mid position and have more depth.

    • Yeah even more idiotic is not calling in this guy Jonathan Bornstein, he has more Liga Mx starts, minutes, and goals than Villafana and he plays on a marginally better team with a better defense. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t call him in, oh wait yeah I do.

  3. i have to say, Howard is my #1 with Guzan down to #3 and Yarbrough at #2. i’d honestly even argue i’d prefer Hamid over Guzan.

regarding Villafana, dude has to get a call in October. the good news, JK alluded at the last camp that he would use the friendlies in October to take a look at players like Villafana. here’s to hoping he actually does…
