The West Virginia Mountaineers didn’t start the week ranked in the SBI College Soccer Top 25, but that will be changing very soon.
The Mountaineers dropped SBI No. 25 American University, 3-0, on Tuesday to post the team’s sixth straight shutout and improve their record to 5-1-1 on the season.

The biggest game if the midweek action saw No. 7 Denver travel to Nebraska and earn a 0-0 draw at Creighton. Nick Gardner made four saves in goal for Denver, which posted its fourth straight shutout. Creighton goalkeeper Alex Kapp made nine saves for the Bluejays.
There were far more goals further West on Wednesday, with Loyola Marymount posting a dramatic 4-3 win over No. 21 UCSB. Connor Johnson headed home the winning goal for the Lions
UNC-Wilmington rebounded from a blowout loss to Florida Gulf Coast by handing Charlotte its first loss of the season in a 2-0 UNCW victory.
The upset of the week took place in Sacramento, where Sacramento State knocked off Utah Valley, 3-2, on Thursday. Ivan Ramirez delivered the winning goal in the 41st minute in a match that saw all five goals scored in the first half.
