Americans Abroad Wednesday Preview: Green, Gooch, Miazga and more

Tuesday was a big day for Americans Abroad, but several other young stars will have a chance to make their mark on Wednesday.

Headlining the proceedings is Julian Green, who is reportedly expected to be in the Bayern Munich lineup for Wednesday’s DFB Pokal clash against FC Augsburg. Another young winger, Jerome Kiesewetter, may also be in action, while Christian Pulisic remains doubtful for a match against Union Berlin due to illness.

In England, Lynden Gooch will hope to push Sunderland past Southampton in EFL Cup action, while Matt Miazga and Vitesse headline Dutch Cup action in a match against RKC Waalwijk. In the evening, Ventura Alvarado and Club America take on Chivas de Guadalajara.

Perry Kitchen and Hearts are scheduled for the lone league match of the day as they take on Kilmarnock in Scottish league action.

Here’s a closer look at Wednesday’s Americans Abroad:

Lynden Gooch and Sunderland visit Southampton.

Julian Green and Bayern Munich host FC Augsburg.

Jerome Kiesewetter and Fortuna Dusseldorf visit Hannover.

Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund face Union Berlin. (Pulisic is doubtful due to illness.)

Perry Kitchen and Hearts face Kilmarnock.

Matt Miazga and Vitesse host RKC Waalwijk.

Rubio Rubin and FC Utrecht face Desevio Payne and Groningen.

Ventura Alvarado and Club America take on Chivas de Guadalajara.

  1. Would be nice to see Gooch, Kiesewetter, Green, and Rubin get some solid minutes in these cup games. That’s why it is important for these squads to stay alive in these competitions as long as possible. Every minute counts for these young players.
