The Stanford Cardinal endured a rough start to the 2016 season, but the reigning NCAA champions are starting to round into form.
Stanford’s Foster Langsdorf, Tomas Hilliard-Arce and Derek Waldeck scored goals in the No. 14 Cardinal’s 3-1 romp over No. 19 San Diego State on Thursday night. The victory is Stanford’s seventh in eight matches.
Indiana delivered the win of the week by halting red-hot Louisville, 2-1, on Tuesday. Tanner Thompson drew a penalty in the first minute of the second half, which Trevor Swartz converted, to help the No. 11 Hoosiers earn the home victory over a No. 2 Louisville side that had been unbeaten in eight matches.
Daniel Bruce’s 56th-minute goal helped SBI No. 22 Charlotte topple No. 7 Clemson on Tuesday night. Freshman goalkeeper Elliott Panicco made seven saves to preserve the shutout.
