Americans Abroad Sunday Rewind: Wooten, Miazga, Gatt and more

Sunday was an undoubted success for Andrew Wooten, but few other Americans took off for the international break on positive notes.

Wooten scored a goal while also adding an assist in Sandhausen’s win over 1860 Munich. The goal was Wooten’s fifth league goal of the season as well as his fifth finish in his past six games in all competitions.

Of the other Americans Abroad, only Matt Miazga, Josh Gatt and Cole Grossman logged heavy minutes. Miazga continues to assert himself as a member of Vitesse’s starting lineup, but the on-loan Chelsea centerback’s latest match proved a 2-1 loss to Heracles. The Norwegian league duo, meanwhile, alternated a win and a loss as Grossman’s Stabaek cruised while Gatt’s Molde faltered.

Bob Bradley and Swansea City suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Terrence Boyd did not dress in RB Lepzig’s 3-1 win over Mainz.

Aron Johannsson did not dress in Werder Bremen’s 3-1 loss to Schalke.

Jorge Villafana dressed but did not play in Santos Laguna’s 2-0 win over Chiapas.

Rubio Rubin dressed but did not play in FC Utrecht’s 2-1 win over Excelsior.

Matt Miazga started and played 90 minutes in Vitesse’s 2-1 loss to SC Heracles Almelo.

Caleb Stanko dressed but did not play in FC Vaduz’s 0-0 draw with Grasshoppers.

Andrew Wooten provided a GOAL and an ASSIST in SV Sandhausen’s 3-2 win over 1860 Munich.

Josh Gatt started and played 85 minutes while Ethan Horvath dressed but did not play in Molde’s 1-0 loss to  Lillestrom.

Cole Grossman started and played 90 minutes in Stabaek’s 3-0 win over IK Start.
