Didier Drogba confirmed what many already suspected: his time with the Montreal Impact is coming to an end.
The Ivorian star announced his impending departure following Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Toronto FC. Drogba came on in the 71st minute of Tuesday’s match after starting on the bench in favor of Matteo Mancosu.

“There’s still one or maybe two games to go,” Drogba said following the win. “Next week’s game is more important than if it’s finished or not. Everyone knows it was my last game here. Now let’s focus on the semi-final.”
Drogba, whose role has been greatly reduced in recent months, has scored 27 goals in 33 games with the Canadian club. The striker made headlines in the weeks leading up to the playoffs for controversially refusing to play after being named to the bench.
The Impact return to action on Wednesday night for the second leg of the Eastern Conference finals.
