RB Leipzig open to offers for Terrence Boyd

As several years away from the game due to injury, Terrence Boyd is nearing a return to full fitness but his return to regular gametime may actually come away from his current club.

RB LeipzigĀ sporting director Ralf Rangnick says that the club is willing to listen to offers for the U.S. Men’s National team striker. Boyd is entering final months of his current deal with the Bundesliga club, which shockingly sits in second currently in the club’s first season in the top flight.

“There were concrete offers for him in August,” Rangnick told Bild. “I expect it to be similar in winter, and if there are any offers, we will sit down and look for the best solution for both Terrence and us.”

Boyd recently returned to the game following a two-year absence due to a series of knee issues. The forward joined up and earned a substitute appearance for the USMNT in the group’s most recent friendly, but has been limited to reserve team action with RB Leipzig.

  1. Based on his interviews he appears to love the States. I could see MLS being a realistic options. If nothing else, for a few seasons while he gets back on his feet, so to speak.

  2. Most likely 2.Bundesliga teams or mid level European leagues Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, or Belgium. He’s never played in the Bundesliga and RB has upgraded their side significantly since his injury. He did score against PSG in a friendly this Summer, but it was a mostly reserve side and Zlatan.

He has played in 17 Europa League games, but mostly against teams from lower European leagues. His 8 Europa League goals has got to be up there for American players. Dempsey has 7, AJ has 2, Jozy has 4, Kljestan has 1 (and 3CL), Mix has 2. Anyone else think of someone?

      • Only if he agrees to personal terms with any interested suitor or he gains even more freedom to chose his next destination on a Bosman. Boyd is in a good spot to control his own fate on and off the pitch.
