Following Friday’s loss, the U.S. Men’s National Team returns to action on Tuesday night for another vital World Cup qualifier.
The Hexagonal continues on Tuesday night at Costa Rica’s Estadio Nacional as the USMNT visits Los Ticos for the second game of the qualifying round. The USMNT enters on a low following a late 2-1 loss to Mexico, while Costa Rica topped Trinidad & Tobago in their Hex opener.
After starting last match with a three-at-the-back formation, the U.S. reverts to a more conventional 4-4-2 for Tuesday’s match. Brad Guzan joins the starting lineup in place of the injured Tim Howard, while Jozy Altidore and Bobby Wood remain atop the attack against Los Ticos.
The SBI staff will be offering updates and analysis in the comments section below, so feel free to follow along, and as always, please feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions below.
Enjoy the action.
Ryan who could replace Jones and Bradley in central midfield? Better formation for our talent?
Don’t think either is going anywhere any time soon, but the pairing is still a disaster. For me, Kitchen is still the heir apparent to the No.6 role. No idea why he isn’t more involved.
Percent chance that Klinsman gets fired in the next few days? Give me some hope Ryan!
Ooof. That’s a tough one. Gulati continues to insist that Klinsmann WILL be the coach through the Hex, but it’s certainly hard to justify when the U.S. comes out with a stinker like that. SO hard to change coaches during WCQ, though. Hard to put a number on it, but Gulati is going to certainly have some sleepless nights thinking about this over the next few days.
Thanks Ryan appreciate all the hard work you put in keeping this site afloat.
I will say, just to say something positive, that the refs were pretty damned good tonight in my opinion. Oh, and the go90 app is awesome, so thanks to the SBI community for the heads up.
