Alfredo Morales isn’t a player known for scoring goals, but the Ingolstadt midfielder fired a vital one on Sunday.
Morales scored a 26th minute goal, opening the scoring in an eventual 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The goal is Morales’ first since April 23 and second career Bundesliga finish. Meanwhile, the win pushes Ingolstadt into 16th place, two points ahead of Bobby Wood’s Hamburg.
Elsewhere, Andre Wooten was held scoreless in Sandhausen’s scoreless draw on Sunday, while Josh Perez was on the bench for Fiorentina’s defeat to Lazio.
Here’s a closer look at Sunday’s Americans Abroad:
Alfredo Morales played 90 minutes and scored A GOAL in Ingolstadt’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Julian Green did not dress in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win over Darmstadt. (Green is injured)
Josh Perez dressed but did not play in Fiorentina’s 3-1 loss to Lazio.
Emerson Hyndman did not dress in Bournemouth’s 3-1 loss to Southampton.
Gedion Zelalem did not dress in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City.
Cameron Carter-Vickers did not dress in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Burnley.
Desevio Payne dressed but did not play in FC Groningen’s 1-1 draw with Go Ahead Eagles.
Andrew Wooten started and played 90 minutes in Sandhausen’s 0-0 draw with Hannover.

Bjorg Johnsen-Maars continued with his scoring. You missed him in your report.
His goal is in the Saturday report.
So many guys need a loan when the window opens
Green is unlikely to go on loan because his contract runs out this Summer, and no one is paying much of transfer when they can sign him for free this Summer.
Miazga is already on loan and usually you don’t loan loaned players
Hyndman would seem a likely loan candidate Bournemouth is deep at his position and he has Championship experience
Zelalem’s contract seems to be up June so he’s in the same boat as Green.
Perez is 18 and it seems Fiorentina has him on the same plan that Dortmund used with Pulisic some spot duty with the man club, while starring with U19. Next year would seem a more likely loan if he hasn’t broken into more minutes with the full squad.
Rubin could use at least a loan as Zivkovic seems to have taken all of his minutes on loan from Ajax.
Josh Gatt’s contract is up at the end of the month so hopefully he can find a new club
Interested to see if Joe Gyau also moves on
I would think CCV would be prime for a championship loan, but if Spurs keep him they might be more likely to release him for the CONCACAF U20 if he isn’t being used for the main squad.
Hopefully Morales can get a proper look under Arena. JK played him in weird spots during his call ups imo
When you play the same role as the captain its hard to get looks in the spot you are used to. So unless Arena is changing captains it will be hard for Morales to get those looks you are hoping for.
Morales won’t take Bradley’s spot and probably wouldn’t pair well with him in a two man defensive midfield. But I think he could work well as one of three or four in midfield, with bradley sitting deepest. Morales can push up to support attack or fall back to cover when bradley advances. He’s a pretty flexible player with good work rate to harass in midfield.
Yeah, Bradley is not nearly as good as Morales. It’s been that way for a while.
