Sunday was Fabian Johnson’s birthday, and the U.S. Men’s National Team defender was hit with some bad news heading towards the new year.
Borussia Monchengladbach announced that Johnson is expected to be sidelined for at least several games due to an injured Achilles tendon. The injury is expected to keep Johnson out until at least 2017. The midfielder has made 20 total appearances for the club this season while also making five appearances for the USMNT since the start of the Bundesliga season.
The German club, which currently sits 12th in the Bundesliga, was recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League group stage but, thanks to a third place finish, Monchengladbach will take on Fiorentina in the Europa League’s Round of 32.
What do you make of the Johnson injury? How will the club fare without him?

As long as hes ready for qualifiers in March I don’t care.
Champions League over? Might as well take an “injury” break before the winter break.
