Hampered by knee injuries — including a torn ACL in late 2014 — over recent years, Boyd has yet to make an appearance for RB Leipzig’s first team, who are tied for first in the Bundesliga, this season.
The U.S. Men’s National Team forward moved to Leipzig in 2014 after tallying 37 goals in 80 matches across all competitions for Austrian club Rapid Vienna from 2012 to 2014.
Born to an American father and a German mother in Bremen, Germany, Boyd spent part of his youth in Queens, N.Y., before returning to Europe.
