Americans Abroad Saturday Rewind: Hyndman, Corona, Gonzalez and more

While a group of Americans returned to the field as Liga MX began the Clausura campaign, one young American made his first appearance in months in a losing effort.

Emerson Hyndman joined the Bournemouth lineup for the first time since September on Saturday in FA Cup action, but the American midfielder could do little to help the Cherries avoid a lopsided defeat to League One side Millwall. Danny Williams was also on the wrong side of a bad defeat, as Reading fell to Wayne Rooney and Manchester United, 4-0.

Mexican action was headlined by the Tijuana return of Joe Corona, who returned to the field with Xolos after spending last season on loan with Dorados. He was joined on the field by regulars Michael Orozco and Paul Arriola, but Tijuana could not put one past Morelia in a 2-0 defeat.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Spector injury marred a clash with DeAndre Yedlin’s Newcastle while David Wagner and Huddersfield Town cruised to an FA Cup win.

  1. I watched the reading and Manchester. United game. Danny let the Manchester players roam around and pass with hardly no pressure. Saw that a lot in the klinnsman era. Also him and felliani. Got in each others faces because he dragged Williams down on a. Foul.

  2. If Michael Orozco continues to start for Xolos and is called into the March qualifiers will it break the internet?

Villafana again on the bench behind a 19 year old whose number is 238. If you can’t beat out a guy with #238 on his jersey you probably won’t be called into the national team anytime soon.

  3. Pulisic scored in a friendly against PSV. He played the 2nd half with Schurrle, Mor, and Gotze up front. The full match is available on the BvB website, CP’s goal is around 90 minutes on the video clock 74th minute of game time. He almost scored again one minute later, but his shot went wide.
