The Liga MX Clausura home opener couldn’t have gone much better for Club Tijuana, and the return to Estadio Caliente after a year away on loan could not have gone much better for Joe Corona.

The American midfielder scored a goal and helped set up another by drawing a dangerous free kick in Club Tijuana’s 6-2 rout of Puebla on Friday night.

U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Paul Arriola was also in on the scoring fun, belting a beautiful blast in the second half to help spark the blowout.

Arriola and fellow American Michael Orozco both started for Club Tijuana, while Corona came off the bench and made a major impact, earning a free kick at the top of the penalty area that teammate Victor Malcorra converted to make the score 5-2. Corona then added his own name to the scoresheet when he pounced on a loose ball in front of goal to give him a goal in his first game back in Tijuana since returning from a year away on loan with Dorados.
