Americans Abroad Saturday Rewind: Arriola, Johnson, Wooten and more

arriola

Paul Arriola and Tijuana continue to dominate the start of the Liga MX campaign while two other Americans contributed directly to goals in Saturday wins.

Arriola scored Tijuana’s fourth and final goal in a 4-2 defeat of William Yarbrough on Saturday night. The victory sees Tijuana seal their fourth win in five games as they stay atop the Liga MX table through the first weekend of February.

In Germany, Fabian Johnson was credited with an assist off the bench in a Borussia Monchengbladbach win. The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder’s headed pass led to a spectacular Lars Stindl solo effort as Monchengladbach cruised past Freiburg via a trio of second half goals.

Elsewhere, Andrew Wooten scored in a Sandhausen win, John Brooks’ Hertha Berlin outdueled Alfredo Morales’ Ingolstadt and Christian Pulisic earned a late appearance in Borussia Dortmund’s win over RB Leipzig.
