Americans Abroad: Tuesday Preview


Tuesday brings the return of the UEFA Champions League as the last remaining American player looks to help push his team to start the Round of 16.

Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund travel to Portugal on Tuesday as the German club opens the Round of 16 with a visit to Benfica. Dortmund finished top of their group in the prior stage, earning 14 of a possible 18 points to book a date with the Portuguese powerhouse. Throughout the club’s group stage run, Pulisic featured in each of the six matches, making five starts.

A large slate of English Championship action is also on the docket with several Americans set to take the field. DeAndre Yedlin has shined for Newcastle in recent weeks, and the U.S. Men’s National Team fullback will look to continue the push towards World Cup qualifiers during a visit to Norwich City. The day also presents a clash of Americans as Tim Ream’s Fulham faces off with Eric Lichaj, Gboly Ariyibi and Nottingham Forest.

The evening also boasts a match featuring an American as William Yarbrough and Lyon face Copa MX action.
