The road to South Korea starts on Saturday for the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team.
Saturday brings the beginning of the CONCACAF U-20 Championships as the U.S. U-20s collide with Panama to open their push towards the World Cup. The competition begins with a group stage with the U.S. needing to finish in the top two of a group featuring Panama, Haiti and Saint Kitts & Nevis to reach the second round.
Head coach Tab Ramos’ lineup features several familiar faces, including captain Erik Palmer-Brown, who is the sole player to return from last cycle’s squad. Jonathan Klinsmann assumes the role of starting goalkeeper while MLS standout Justen Glad anchors the defense. Up top, Portland Timbers rookie Jeremy Ebobisse leads the line with Brooks Lennon, Sebastian Saucedo and Luca de la Torre pulling the strings behind him.
It's almost that time! Introducing the U-20 #USMNT's Starting XI vs. Panama.

On the goal, notice how #17 does not understand what to do to double down on the attacker. Everyone holds the ball for no reason in the midfield, giving Panama a chance to get back on defense. Why loop in long balls with a man advantage. They are bunkered in anyway. They had 1 attacker. Why were the fullbacks not overlapping on the strong side. Truly a HORRIFIC job of coaching, team preparation and selecting too many guys who look like weightlifters, but have no technique, no decent first touch, and no semblance of fighting spirit. This coach must go, no matter WHAT HIS LAST NAME IS.
If we bomb out of this one, I think this could be the end of Tab as a coach. I could be wrong but my memory tells me he seems to have trouble winning games.
Well to many foreigners played in MLS, that inflict a big damage on our young players, they dont get to play much at all
Embarrassing…
Another soul crushing result for U.S. soccer. Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark.
That was not the best angle to take to cover the goal in that situation, Klinsmann
Deflection was a killer, but definitely not Klinsmann’s best. It happens, but the team’s lack of anything in the other half is the real concern. Just no real push towards anything dangerous. Keeping possession is one thing, but you have to actually be productive with it. Big issue, especially with Panama bunkering from this point on.
Yeah, it seems the last few possessions they give up and lob something over the top too far for anyone to get to
That was not the keepers fault. The defender let that guy have his way with the ball in the box. He left the keeper out to dry. The ball went in the far post upper 90. No keeper is getting to that.
#2 lost the game for the team.
No, against this Panama team letting in 1 goal should not have you lose the game. The attacking players lost this game for the US.
Can anybody give an old guy who knows nothing about FB live a tip on how to see the game?
Also on Univision Deportes if you’re cool with watching in Spanish. Facebook is also working for me on the CONCACAF page.
thanks Ryan
26′ and Panama with a couple of half chances …all coming off of turnovers when the US pushes forward. Panama creating nothing on their own.
0-0 in the 20th minute
RED CARD For Panamanian MF going over the ball into Tyler Adams shin on a loose ball in midfield.
Awful foul and now a HUGE advantage for the U.S., but it all depends on if Adams is okay. He’s a vital piece in that midfield. Plays well above his age.
Is he more a traditional 8 or deep lying 6?
Think he has the ability to play both roles, as well as fullback. Obviously playing more of an 8 today. Interested to see how he makes the jump to the Red Bulls first team this year and how he fits next to Davis/Felipe.
Battle in the MF not won, opens space for ball down the right wing with LB out of position. Ball crossed from right … shot blocked by LB covering. Corner cleared
First bit of danger there
Kids are playing with nice pressure … moving the ball through MF fairly well. They’ve switched p.o.a. Multiple times already.
Getting fouled somewhat frequently
