Friday was an eventful day for Joe Corona for reasons both good and bad.
The Tijuana midfielder provided an assist on his side’s opening goal before being sent off in the second half of Xolo’s 3-2 loss to Pachuca. Corona’s big day started in the 42nd minute as his cross found Damián Pérez for a headed finish to open the scoring. Pachuca proceeded to score the next three before Corona was dismissed int he 77nd minute after earning his second yellow card.
Michael Orozco also found himself at the center of controversy as the U.S. Men’s National Team defender’s first half tackle of Hirving Lozano produced a gruesome ankle injury for the Mexican national team winger.
On the other side, Omar Gonzalez went a full 90 minutes, helping his side secure the win.
