While one American secured advancement in CONCACAF Champions League play, another guided his team towards automatic promotion to the Premier League in English action.

Following a scoreless first leg, Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca took it to Saprissa on Tuesday night, thumping the Costa Rican powerhouse, 4-0, in Mexico. The win sends Gonzalez and co. into the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, where they will likely face FC Dallas, who enter their second leg with a 4-0 advantage over Arabe Unido.

In England, DeAndre Yedlin and Newcastle picked up a huge win in their push for promotion by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion, who entered the week on top of the table. The win moves Newcastle to the top of the Championship with a two-point gap on second and an eight-point gap on third-place Huddersfield Town.

Although Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund saw their match postponed due to inclement weather, Timmy Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt moved on with a win in DFB-Pokal action. Elsewhere, six Americans took the field in Copa MX victories.
