Americans Abroad Wednesday Rewind: Miazga, Green, Hyndman and more

A trio of U.S. Men’s National Team regulars missed matches due to injuries, but some younger stars stepped up for their club sides to headline Wednesday’s Americans Abroad action.

In the Netherlands, Matt Miazga had a big game for Vitesse, which topped Heracles Almelo, 1-0, in league play. Miazga was vital to preserving a clean sheet in a match that saw both teams reduced to 10 men by straight red cards.

Julian Green also played a full 90 minutes as Stuttgart snatched a late 1-1 draw against 1860 Munich. Russell Canouse also earned a 45 minute appearance in 2. Bundesliga play, while Emerson Hyndman started and played 45 minutes before being substitute in Scottish League action for Rangers.

As for some of the more regular USMNT call-ups, DeAndre Yedlin, John Brooks and Fabian Johnson missed out due to injury on Wednesday. The latter duo’s teams collided in Bundesliga play with Johnson’s Borussia Monchengladbach toppling Brooks’ Hertha Berlin by a  1-0 scoreline.
