After two home losses in their first two games and a tough road loss to Vancouver last week, the Los Angeles Galaxy found their first three points of the season at home. Goals by Romain Alessandrini and Jermaine Jones gave LA a 2-0 win against a 10-man Montreal Impact.

Romain Alessandrini continued on his run from last week by scoring the opening goal for the home side. Emmanuel Boateng saw the Frenchman’s call for the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and his low shot split the Montreal defence. Evan Bush slid but could not grab the ball in time and the Galaxy was up by one.

The Impact’s tough first half continued with a tough blow for their back line. In a challenge with Jermaine Jones at the 31^st minute, Hassoun Camara fell awkwardly to the ground and was forced to leave the game. Kyle Fisher was substituted in to take Camara’s spot in central defence.

The Impact’s first half went from bad to worst the 45^th minute when it saw one of its players sent off for the third time in five games. Referee Armando Villarreal gave Marco Donadel a red card for a contested contact with Jermaine Jones, a decision that appeared highly questionable based on television replays of the incident, which saw Jermaine Jones fall to the ground and cover his face despite not being hit in the face.

The Galaxy hammered the last nail in the Impact’s coffin at the 75^th minute when Jones found space and beat Bush to score his first goal as a Galaxy player. With the win, the Galaxy get a crucial first result at the StubHub Center and can kick start the slow start to their season.

Man of the Match

Ema Boateng. The speedy winger has the assist on the Galaxy’s opening goal and helped out from his left flank. Despite his small stature, Boateng does a great work at imposing himself for Los Angeles.

Emmanuel Boateng from the left flank cuts inside and sees Romain Alessandrini who calls for the ball. After receiving the ball, the designated player shoots from the very top of the 18-yard box to fool Evan Bush and open the score for the Galaxy.

Match to Forget

Dominic Oduro. The Speedster has not been very convincing on this warm California evening. With Piatti out injured, Oduro should have stepped up and demanded more balls sent his way despite the young and in demand homegrown player Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla on the other side of the midfield.
