Video: Chandler discusses USMNT, shows off football skills

  1. This was an excellent type of video for Chandler’s image, which doesn’t project well to USMNT fans. The video made him more human. I’ve watched him play many times, but that’s the first time I’ve seen him express himself or heard him speak. I’m always hoping for USMNT’ers to do well.

  2. I for one have always thought Chandler would be a blazing beast as a winger. Also, his decent defending skills he would be a great help as well to a RB while tracking back and defending. His athleticism is superb, I wonder why he has never gotten a look more as an attacker, beating his defenders and putting out crosses all game.

  3. I actually liked the video. Chandler comes across as an easygoing, yet competitive person. Not saying an 8-minute vid translates into a national team call up. Just saying Chandler gets more criticism than justified for an American playing abroad.

    • He is having an excellent season for a mid-table team in one of the best leagues in the world. Not a lot of US players can say that. While he seems to have had trouble in CONCACAF before, he has done very well this season in the Bundesliga, so if I were Arena, I’d call him in for a look see.

      • All things considered we don’t have many Outside Backs playing week in, week out in good leagues. Chandler may-not be a starter, but IMO he does deserve to be in the conversation for the US 23 man squad.

Fabian, Yedlin, Chandler, Cameron, Villafana, Garza, Lichaj, & Rosenberry

Considering most everyone wants FJ in the Midfield and Cameron at CB or CDM our choices are pretty slim at the back positions. I have more confidence in TC than I do say Rosenberry at this point.

  4. That was 8 minutes of my life I’ll never have back… I usually enjoy these kinds of videos, but this was painful. The one positive was to hear TC speaking in English, he did better than I expected. and good call on the JLo comparison.

On a side note, I graduated from an American boarding school in Germany many years ago. And one season, someone had the brilliant idea to have cheerleaders for our soccer games. None of us players were happy about it but fortunately, after being ridiculed for 3-4 games by the German teams, the cheer squad quit.

    • “That was 8 minutes of my life I’ll never have back”, wow I had a completely different take. I enjoyed the video and got some insight into Chandler that I otherwise wouldn’t have had. He seems to have a good sense of humor and be an easy-going person. For example, after watching this video i’d much rather go get a beer with Chandler than someone like Dempsey. Dempsey always seems like a pissed off, overly serious person in every single interview I see of him.
