Americans Abroad Tuesday Rewind: Williams, Ream, Gooch and more

In a clash of Americans with Premier League hopes, Danny Williams and Reading came out on top to continue their push for promotion.

Williams and Reading edged past Tim Ream and Fulham, 1-0, on Tuesday, booking their spot in the promotion playoff final. Both Americans played a full 90 minutes, but it was veteran striker Yann Kermorgant who buried a penalty kick early in the second half to send Reading through. Now, Reading awaits the winner of Wednesday’s match, which pits David Wagner and Huddersfield Town against Sheffield Wednesday.

In Premier League action, Lynden Gooch made his first appearance since November in a losing effort to Arsenal. The Sunderland midfielder joined the fray as a substitute shortly after Arsenal’s first goal in what ended up as a 2-0 defeat.

Lynden Gooch entered as a 77th minute substitute in Sunderland’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

Rubio Rubin dressed buy did not play in Silkeborg’s 2-1 win over Odense Boldklub.

Steve Clark started and played 90 minutes in AC Horsens’ 1-0 win over Viborg.

Haji Wright, Weston McKennie, and Nick Taitague and Schalke U19s were eliminated from the Junior A Championship by Timothy Tillman and Bayern Munich on penalties after Bayern scored in the 88th minute to even the aggregate. Tillman scored a goal and Wright converted his penalty, McKennie earned a yellow card and Taitague was subbed off in the 90th minute.

    Will Pulisic and BvB U19 defeated McKinze Gaines and Wolfsburg 2-1 and 5-3 on aggregate. Gaines went 61 minutes in the loss, Pulisic dressed, but did not play.
