With World Cup qualifiers looming, Jermaine Jones is set to miss extended time with a knee injury.
The LA Galaxy announced that Jones is set to miss three-to-four weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire over the weekend. The timeline would see him return just before the U.S. Men’s National Team faces off with Trinidad & Tobago on June 11.
Jones has started three of the USMNT’s four matches during the Hexagonal phase. Jones’ lone absence was caused by suspension as the U.S. throttled Honduras, 6-0, with Jones out of the lineup. The veteran midfielder returned to the lineup for the next match against Panama, a 1-1 draw.
The midfielder has recorded one goal and two assists in eight matches for the struggling Galaxy this season.
