Orlando City began the month of April with a loss to the Columbus Crew, but they rebounded in a big way with four straight wins to top the Supporters’ Shield standings with 18 points.

Most impressive of all is Orlando’s defensive record during their streak. The Lions conceded just twice and have the Eastern Conference’s best defense.

Orlando is currently the team to beat in MLS, which is why it is deserving of SBI’s MLS Team of the Month honors for April.

Despite a 2-0 loss to the Columbus Crew, Orlando recovered to earn victories over the New York Red Bulls, LA Galaxy, New York City FC and Colorado Rapids. The Floridian side did so without defender Jose Aja and Kaka, who returned against the Rapids with a goal.

Orlando’s brilliant run without some key players beat out Sporting Kansas City and FC Dallas to the Team of the Month award.
