Trusty replaces Fossey on U.S. U-20 roster

Shortly after announcing his roster, U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos said Auston Trusty would serve as an insurance policy. Due to a key injury, Ramos will use that insurance policy ahead of Monday’s Under-20 World Cup opener.

U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday that Trusty will replace fellow defender Marlon Fossey on the U.S. squad. Trusty, who featured once during qualifying, has been with the team since training camp opened after being named as a tournament alternate.

Fossey has, in turn, been released back to Fulham. The defender had been battling a groin injury and was in a race against time to be fit for the tournament. Fossey started all but one match at right back during the team’s run through qualifying.

The U.S. arrived in Korea on Wednesday night ahead of Monday’s U-20 World Cup opener against Ecuador.
