Midweek USL action is in full swing as teams are beginning to catch up on their games in hand.
Each USL match in the midweek slate will feature video assistant referees’ which will be worth watching given the number of penalties that are given in each game. The headline match will see the Energy take on Phoenix Rising on Tuesday night.
USL’s leading scorer Dane Kelly will also be in action on Wednesday night for 1868 FC. Kelly is tied with Romario Williams of the Charleston Battery with 10 goals on the season. Can he take back sole possession of the Golden Boot?

TUESDAY
OKC Energy FC vs. Phoenix Rising FC, 8:30 p.m.
The USL game of the week will See the Energy take on Phoenix Rising. The Energy will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Switchbacks while Phoenix will be looking to break their trend of alternating wins and losses. This game will end a three-game road trip for Phoenix Rising.
WEDNESDAY
Louisville City FC vs. Charlotte Independence, 7:30 p.m.
After over a month on the road, Louisville will finally return to the friendly confines of home. They will be hosting a suddenly hot Charlotte Independence team that is unbeaten in their last three. Louisville will hope that they have shored up the defense after allowing four goals to the Charleston Battery over the weekend.
Orlando City B vs. Rochester Rhinos, 7:30 p.m.
Orlando will be hoping that Hadji Berry keeps up his sizzling form from their win over the Riverhounds that saw him bag a goal and collect an assist. They’ll need all the help that they can get as the Rhinos are in the midst of a five-game unbeaten run. The winner of this match will have a chance to jump into third place in the Eastern Conference.
Reno 1868 FC vs. Rio Grande Valley FC, 10:30 p.m.
Two teams with lengthy unbeaten streaks will clash in Reno in the Wednesday nightcap. The red hot 1868 FC are riding a five-game unbeaten run that has seen them net 19 goals. Rio Grande Valley FC are unbeaten in four straight. The Toros will have to look out for the dynamic duo of Dane Kelly and Antoine Hoppenot for 1868 FC if they want to leave Reno with a win.
