Report: Cameron Carter-Vickers set to join Sheffield United on loan

Cameron Carter-Vickers is reportedly set to leave Tottenham on loan in search of more playing time.

According to ESPN, the 19-year-old American centerback is set to join Championship club Sheffield United on a season-long loan. The move comes in the aftermath of Tottenham’s signing of centerback Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

Carter-Vickers, who made four appearances in cup matches for Tottenham last season, joins a Sheffield United team with two wins and two losses from the club’s opening four matches in the English championship. The team has run a three-at-the-back system so far this season, making the addition of the American defender a valuable one.

Sheffield Wednesday faces off with Derby County on Saturday.

    • How many premier league teams take 19 yr old CBs without any prem experience on loan?
This could be a great move for him. Lots of games in the Championship and a little bit out of the spotlight where he can develop his game. The only guarantee for him at this point is that he is going to make mistakes. Such is the life of a young CB. He needs to make the proper adjustments and improve his game to make it at the next level. By all accounts he has the potential.

      • Don’t get me wrong I’m glad he’s going to get mins, I was just hoping it was going to be for a team or league that was on TV on a regular basis

  1. From what I remember seeing, that Davison Sanchez is going to be World Class. With Alderweireld, Vertongen, and now Sanchez (including Dier if they continue playing a back-3, I don’t see CCV ever suiting up for the first team as it’s regular starter.

Hopefully he makes the most of this loan, because it’s likely an advertisement for his next stop.

    • Competition will be good for him though. This Sanchez guy is a prospect just like CCV (possibly with a higher ceiling). He has no prem experience, and there have been much much better players who have either failed to adapt to the league or culture.
If CCV plays well and develops he will have a shot. Thats all we want for him right? Top CBs are hard to find. Spurs will not want to let him go if he’s showing he can make it at their level. Its all up to him to prove it now. Great opportunity for the guy.
