Americans Abroad Wednesday Rewind: Omar Gonzalez, Cameron Carter-Vickers and more

While one surging American prospect saw his match postponed due to weather, two American centerbacks stepped up to help preserve clean sheets.

With John Brooks out and Geoff Cameron’s status still up in the air, Omar Gonzalez could be vital for the U.S. Men’s National Team in the coming weeks. On the club level, Gonzalez put together a strong performance on Wednesday, helping lead Pachuca to a 4-0  win over Cruz Azul.

He wasn’t the only centerback to preserve a clean sheet, though, as Cameron Carter-Vickers had a solid game as well in Championship action. The young defender helped Sheffield Wednesday seal a midweek win, toppling 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers by a 2-0 scoreline.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Gonzalez and Monterrey were set to face off with Jorge Villafana, Ventura Alvarado and Santos Laguna, but the match was abandoned after just 12 minutes due to rain. The match will be rescheduled.

  1. The Liga MX and the Monterrey whu his coach the argentinan is hacking the best american
prospect Jonathan Gonzalez 18 years of age, telling the mexican coach Juan Carlos Osorio
that the young plays whit the MNT.
But Gonzalez refuse to play whit chivas because,if the mexican american play in this team
    can´t play whit USAMNT .
Anyway the usa player did not want to play whit chivas by this reason, and he wants more
usa than México, jorge vergara is a big hacker, first he do it whit alejandro zepeda ,and zepeda borned in Usa,but not whit Gonzalez..he said noup never qhit chivas.
There are many mexicans who wants to play whit chivas, but Vergará hate usa and want
to damage usa,and Chivas Regal the licor is seling in usa.
Toluca has Rodrigo Lopez, but the coach is a gentleman and respect the young mexican
american and let it play when they want.no matter if is USA

  2. Call me crazy, but why not bring in Bornstein into a Nats camp? Left back is a sore spot for us and if is Jorge Villafana is our number 1. is Bornstein really that far off given the both play in Liga MX. How are both them rated as player in LigaMX. And lets not forget that Bornstein did step up and play well in the world cup.
