Report: Christian Pulisic linked with Chelsea as Dortmund look to sign Michy Batshuayi

Another week, another Premier League link for Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool in recent weeks, despite repeatedly stating his happiness as a member of Borussia Dortmund. Now, the U.S. Men’s National Team star has been linked with a move to Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the report, Dortmund is hoping to finalize a move for Michy Batshuayi, who has thrived with the club since moving from Chelsea by scoring five goals in three games. The report says Pulisic could be part of the deal as Chelsea would reportedly like to leverage Batshuayi’s move into a deal for the American star.

Pulisic is under contract with Dortmund through 2020 and the club is reportedly “reluctant” when it comes to the idea of letting him leave.

Dortmund returns to action on Thursday for the second leg of the Europa League Round of 32 tie against Atalanta following a 3-2 first leg win.

  1. From his personal standpoint, I think he would be better off not joining Chelsea. I think he would have a harder time getting on the field there than at Dortmund. If he does got to the EPL, he would be better off going to a slightly lesser team and getting established in the EPL first, then look for a move to one of the big teams. He’s still so young that he can afford to take another few years to move out and up.

    • So do I, and I think CP himself would not be overjoyed with a deal like that. He does have some latitude in his contract though. BVB would be silly for a swap for Batshuayi, they have been preparing for Aubemeyang departure for a while now and have quite a few strikers lined up, although when the MB deal became available they jumped on it, as it was an immediate fill-in need via a loan. While MB has had an amazing run of form, it good for Chelsea more than BVB.

Pulisic is a wanted man, by many of the top teams and there is likely to be, according to some UK press sources, a bidding war this summer. So I find it hard to believe that BVB would accept a like-for-like trade and forego another big payday with a talented player
