Christian Pulisic provides assist as Dortmund beats Frankfurt

It was another excellent outing for Christian Pulisic as he started and went the full 90 minutes for Borussia Dortmund in their 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Most importantly, Pulisic provided the assist on Michy Batshuayi’s go ahead goal in the 77th minute.

That tally came just a couple of minutes after Frankfurt levelled the score at a goal each.

The American wonderteen also “assisted” on the own goal that opened the scoring in the 11th minute.

Dortmund’s defense couldn’t hold the lead, but they still managed all three points in a thrilling finish. Frankfurt equalized a minute into stoppage time, but Batshuayi provided a dramatic winner to provide Borussia Dortmund with a 3-2 win.

    • As long as he is starting games, improving, and contributing to his team winning, I don’t think most of us have a preference.

    • good question – i’ll vote for 2 goals and 10 assists – he seems to have brighter future as a setup man and that would help show that he has moved in that direction. And it seems that for every assist that a player is given (the rules are very strict as to when a player is awarded an assist) that would probably mean that there were 10 more goals that he helped set up but didn’t get awarded an assist.

  1. On the own goal, you see why some fans don’t like Chandler, easily beaten for pace by CP. Hard to tell from the clip how much further up the field he started but generally you expect a defender to at least close ground when the other player is dribbling.

    • You are so wrong. Chandler was moved up because they had possession. When they lost the ball is when the break was on. That is how the modern game is played. What do you expect to see? Chandler to stay back like an AYSO game?

      • Watched it again, and you are right I was harsh, but he was beaten by the pace of the ball not CP with the ball and adjusts to cover for the CB who goes out to take CP.
