‘Chicharito’ cannot guarantee future at West Ham

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez came close to leaving West Ham during the winter transfer window, and it appears the Mexican star could still leave the club this summer.

The Mexican star has scored seven goals since joining the Premier League  club and has a contract with the team through 2020. However, the option for leaving remains as the forward assesses his options during the summer.

“There has always been speculation as to whether I will stay or leave and I cannot guarantee anything,” Hernandez told Univision. “I have two more years of contract with West Ham, and everything will come up.

“You never know, because in the winter period I wanted to find my way out to have more minutes and could not.”

West Ham returns to action Monday against Geoff Cameron and Stoke City.

    • I would pay him a lot more than that…and I bet somebody in MLS will too.

Might not be quite as his home nation would want – who is, really? – but the guy can score.

Oh, and he’s a name. Which puts butts in seats and sells tickets and jerseys.

There are not a lot of guys I would take AHEAD of Chicharito if I was an MLS GM, actually. The Zlatan is taken. Messi. Ronaldo.

Now I’m struggling a bit. Chicharito would be high up on the “next up” list, whatever.

    • I’d be shocked if Seattle wasn’t sniffing around hard already.

Clint is aging and Jordan Morris is out for the season. They need a striker – and a name – in the worst way.

Maybe a little further north than expected, but it’s at least the right coast. I’d lay STRONG odds that Seattle is more than passingly interested.

      • There was a rumor he turned down an offer from LAFC, or the offer was not what was wanted so it was never tabled for his consideration by LAFC, either way, LAG and LAFC are out of DP slots and while he is still talented, his desirability is going down but his demand are not. He needs to have a good World Cup for teams to be interested in him this off season, but West Ham won’t sell him cheap to get him off their books if he does well at the WC
