Peru had to wait for the team’s first World Cup goal but Andre Carrillo provided a finish worthy of the wait.
After being held scoreless through the first two games through no lack of shots or effort, Peru finally broke through against Australia on Tuesday. Carrillo’s stunning volley was a deserved tournament-opener for Peru, who will depart Russia with a memorable goal in hand.
