Haji Wright joins Union Berlin for trial period

For the time being, Haji Wright is a member of the Schalke squad, but it appears the American forward is assessing his options with another club in Germany

Union Berlin revealed on Tuesday that Wright has joined the club’s first team for a trial period. Wright spent last season on loan with Sandhausen in the 2. Bundesliga, scoring one goal in 15 matches.

The 20-year-old forward joined Schalke in 2016 before signing a professional contract with the club in the summer of 2017.

Union Berlin, formerly the home of Bobby Wood, finished fourth in the 2. Bundesliga last season.

  1. If he’s only on trial for a few days, it can’t be a good sign for his standing at schalke….i hope he does well….when he was with the u17s he played like a kid that felt entitled…and based on how little time he got at sanhausen…it makes you wonder if he has no work ethic….hopefully he’s maturing and pushes himself……

  2. He’s on a “trial” for a few days with a 2.Bundesliga team?

As for finishing 4th last year, I thought that was the year before last, or did they finish 4th again?

  3. This could be a good move for him. If he can break out in Berlin he would add to the great youth movement we are seeing for the USA.
