Christian Pulisic helped Borussia Dortmund to their second consecutive victory in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.

The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder netted a brace including the gamewinner as the Bundesliga side defeated Liverpool 3-1 in Charlotte.

Virgil Van Dijk gave the Premier League club a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, which was an advantage they took well into the second-half.

Pulisic equalized for Dortmund in the 66th minute, twenty minutes after coming on as a substitute. The midfielder slotted home from the penalty spot after drawing the foul.

The 19-year-old’s day was not finished as he would score the winner in the 89th minute. Marcel Schmelzer hit Pulisic on a counter attack and the American slotted into the bottom-left corner.

Jacob Brunn Larsen added an insurance goal in stoppage time to seal the comeback victory. As for Pulisic, he now has three points in his first two ICC matches this summer.

Up next for Pulisic and Co. is a showdown with Benfica in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

  1. Preseason game, playing against some guys who won’t see the field for Liverpool. But he may have been Dortmund’s best player, although Dortmund was mostly poor.

Not mentioned in the article is the fact that Pulisic was also involved in the third goal, which was scored off the rebound of his shot.

  2. i am still trying to get over the FACT that ne revs owners, the kraft family, tried to TAKE OVER ownership of liverpool. holy crap! what if they had succeeded?? it’s true that they keep the rev’s on a pretty tight budget, BUT IF THEY ALSO OWNED LIVERPOOL (!!) then what impact on the league/situation would that have, totally?

    • He said he didn’t buy Liverpool because it was too hard to compete with the money being spent by the bigger clubs. Here’s a quote that has to rile Revs fans though
      ——————————————————————————————————————–
‘I want to win at everything I do and I think the way that people can spend money there without any limits or do things outside of the UK, it just would be hard to compete.”

It might be time to sell the Revs then because everyone is spending more in MLS than he is and they are not winning.

    • Klopp was pretty funny the other day when asked about signing CP, “Well he’s still got a contract with Dortmund right? Well I guess that’s a problem isn’t it.” Liverpool needs CBs I don’t see them shelling out for CP during this window.
