20-year-old American midfielder Kyle Scott will be heading out on-loan this upcoming season.
The Chelsea and U.S. youth player will join Dutch second-tier side SC Telstar, the team announced. Scott featured regularly for Chelsea’s reserve side, making 36 appearances in the Premier League 2 and an additional 26 spread across the UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup, and the EFL Trophy.
Scott made his first-team debut with Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup last season, playing the final 28 minutes of a 4-0 victory. Internationally, Scott most recently appeared with the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team in 2015.
Telstar finished in sixth place last season, earning 61 points from 38 matches. Fellow U.S. international Andrija Novakovich starred for Telstar on-loan last season, scoring 19 goals while on loan from EFL Championship side Reading.
For Scott to get more of a notice both at club and international level, he will need to make an impact with the Dutch side. Telstar opens their league campaign on Aug. 17th against RKC Waalwijk.
He’s been in CFC’s system since age 10 and at age 20 has 1 first team appearance in FA Cup. They played Novakovich and he prospered there, so it’s probably a good loan. I mean, Novakovich was ok but you’ve heard of Novakovich and the others — and they got senior calls — because they’re playing. I mean, to me he had the right idea when he supposedly handed in a transfer request 2 years ago. I don’t see this helping him or Miazga. Chelsea buys 30 people and loans a pile of them out. This is not much of a development team. They buy what they need and you have to beat Hazard or someone like that to start. But for now, prosper on loan.
