It hasn’t taken Alfredo Morales long to open his scoring account for Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Following his move from Ingolstadt this summer, Morales has made a quick impact for Dusseldorf. The 28-year-old U.S. midfielder scored his first goal for the club, breaking a scoreless deadlock against Hoffenheim.

After it looked like both teams would head into the halftime break level at 0-0, Morales headed past Oliver Baumann in first-half stoppage time to put the hosts ahead at ESPRIT Arena.

It was Morales’ first top-flight goal since Dec. 18th, 2016. which helped Dusseldorf to a 2-1 home success.

  1. He is underated and way better than Michael Bradley. I never understood after the Holland friendly and Germany friendly before the world he was never called up. He was also better than. Jermain Jones. I bet he wished he would have played for Peru instead. Tired of USA wasting players and missing WC.

    • Revisionist history, just because he played well in 2015 in friendlies against German and Dutch Back ups he should have played in Brazil 2014? In those two matches the US trailed 3-2 with Morales on the pitch and lead 4-1 with Diskerud on the pitch. He had 6 matches in 2015 and he was outplayed by Bedoya and Diskerud not even close to Bradley and Jones. By 2016 and 17 he was a part time starter on one of the worst teams in the a Bundesliga and later 2.Bundesliga and he was maybe that clubs 8th or 9th best player. Alfredo missed Feb, Mar, and parts of Oct, Nov, and Dec in 2016 prime time of qualifiers and prep friendlies that he missed during that time Nagbe and Pulisic solidified spots in the NT midfield. By the time he was healthy in 2017 Arena had tightened the roster and he was playing in the 2Bundesliga.
